Gay Art Group are warmly invited to the inaugural concert of the Australian Queer Orchestra (AQO), anew, inclusive initiative being lead by Ryley Gillen. AQO champions LGBTQIA+ orchestral music and musicians in Australia and is made up of LGBTQIA+ and ally musicians, sharing in the rich tradition of classical music, and presenting orchestral works through a queer lens.
This concert features works by Australian composers Christina Green and William Yaxley and arranger Tim Verdon. The program also includes a new work based on the themes of Tchaikovsky’s 6th Symphony, the Pathétique Symphony which couples Tchaikovsky’s music with the narration of his letters to a male lover.
